Restylane Kysse for lips

For many years Restylane Kysse has been used overseas in Europe for lip injections. Recently Restylane Kysse was approved by the FDA in 2020 for use in the lips for plumping and making fuller lips. Restylane Kysse is also approved for perioral lines above the lips as well. Up until now Juvederm has been our favorite filler to use in lips due to its longevity and ability to hold a shape longer. The makers of Kysse have promised us that this new filler will last 12 months, which we are currently putting to the test. The nice thing about this filler is that it is very soft and natural feeling. As far as swelling goes, it is difficult to say if the swelling is less than that of Juvederm or other fillers. As far as bruising, this all depends on the injector and their technique. Traditionally in the past, soft fillers would mean that it would not last long in the lips. Because there is so much movement in the area of the mouth, soft fillers tend break down quicker. Restylane Silk still remains our least favorite and we do not use it in the lips. Restylane silk breaks down far too fast and we have many unhappy customers who were talked into Silk at other facilities.

PDO Thread Lift

PDO Thread lifts have become a very popular procedure for lifting up sagging jowls and creating “Natural” volume from collagen production. We have been performing for over 4 years and were the first in Arizona to perform this procedure. Over the years our technique has changed and evolved to what we consider to be the best in all or Arizona. PDO threads can be very difficult to place unless you have performed many of them. Threads (sutures) are placed under the skin and anchor into the soft tissue to help lift the face and jowls. The threads slowly dissolve over the period of a year. The thread is placed in the hairline so that it is not visible and the end is cut off and slips under the skin. Lidocaine in injected under the skin where the insertion point will be as well as under the skin. The procedure takes about 45 minutes, and some times we like to also add a little filler to replace areas of bone and fat loss. Laser hair removal is a great way to reduce and eliminate unwanted hair. Laser hair takes time and patience to see the desired results since hair grows in different cycles. After about 6 treatments you should be seeing the desired results you want, and then you only need to have maintenance once a year. Laser hair removal works best on darker hair since the laser targets darker hair. Before your treatment, you should not wax the area. When you wax the area it removes the hair and the treatment will not be effective. We recommend shaving the day you plan to have the treatment performed. We recommend not tanning for 2 weeks prior to your treatment as well, since the laser will have a difficult time distinguishing between the hair and the skin pigment. *burns can sometimes occur over areas where it is bony such as the ankle area.

Fibroblast skin tightening has become a hot new trend in 2018 for achieving permanent, long lasting results. Fibroblast has been very popular in Europe and Canada, and now made its way into the US. Fibroblast creates small currents of plasma energy to burn off a small portion of the skin, causing a reaction that tightens the skin. The plasma energy stimulates the small fibroblast cells to produce more collagen and tighten up the skin. During the procedure, you are first numbed with a topical numbing cream to decrease the amount of pain. Depending on the size of the area being treated, the procedure may take 20-30 minutes. We generally suggest to split up big areas to allow swelling to resolve. Areas you can treat would include upper eye lid, lower eyelid, face, labia, stomach, stretch marks, jowls, and much more. The downtime is about 5-7 days where you will have small dots from the device creating small burn marks. These spots will scab up and flake off in about a week. Lip injections are defiantly an art. Before getting your lips done, always look for pictures of what you like. By showing photos to the injector, this will help them get a better idea of what they need to do. Before lip injections, it is good to know if you have a tendency to get cold sores. If you are prone to getting cold sores, I would highly recommend starting on an antiviral such as Valtrex the day before and day of the procedure. Do you research as far as what type of product they like to use for lip injections. I prefer to use Juvederm Ultra XC, because of its longevity. Other fillers such as Restylane, Volbella, Vallure, Bellotero are a total waste of time and money. The reason I say this is due to the fact that the molecules in these fillers are very small and break down quickly. Many inexperienced injectors like these fillers because they are easily correctable when they make a mistake. Always research and look at their before & after photos of lip injections that they have done. Believe it or not, some places do a very poor quality of lip injections and actually steal pictures from other medspas and take credit for the work. If you are paying $5000 for laser hair on your legs, your getting ripped off. If you are paying for a Groupon, your probably getting ripped off. I few tips for getting the most for your money… IPL laser hair removal is a total waste of your time and it will do nothing! They love to market this type of hair removal as “Painless”. It is painless because it does not work. You need to be looking for a newer machine that is no older than 5 years old. Technology in this industry changes so rapidly that better lasers come out every couple of years. You also want to have the energy level turned up each time, if you can tolerate the pain since you will get better results. If you do your laser hair at the same energy level every time it will not do anything. Shave before your treatment, and do not wax. When you wax the hair is removed and leave nothing for the laser to detect. If you wax before laser treatments you will not get results and be wasting your money. Botox or Dysport

The question for years has been which is better, Botox or Dysport? A lot of this depends on what your trying to accomplish. Botox is a very well known brand and does a great job. Dysport has been out for about 8 or so years and also does a great job, but not as well known as Botox. The molecular structure of each is slightly different. Botox has a small extra protein strand attached to it that Dysport does not have. Dysport will tend to have a faster onset (the time it takes to kick in) where as Botox will take about 5-7 days. The length of time the both last has been argued, but they should both last about 3-4 months. I do have a few clients that Botox will last up to 6 months on. I highly recommend trying both and seeing which one will last longer for you, which will save you money in the long run. At the end of the day, Dysport will end up saving you more money, but there are some people who simply respond better to Botox. Both do the exact same thing in the end.

PDO (Polydioxanone) threads have been around for about 10 years. Many people refer to the use of PDO facial threading as “mini face lift”. The PDO threads are made of the same material that is used for surgical procedures such as open heart surgery. These are specially made sutures that have small fine barbs on them to anchor them into place. There are several different types of threads for different types of applications. Some are smooth, barbed or twist depending on the results you are trying to achieve. In my practice I use a majority of barbed threads for lifting the facial tissue and giving people a more youthful appearance. Results can vary widely depending on the skill level of the person performing the procedure and the amount of threads being placed. I have found that the more threads that are used, the better the results will be. The procedure itself is not painful. I typically like to inject the area with a small local anesthetic at the place of insertion. under the skin is numbed to help with patient comfort. The cannula are placed under the skin to place the thread. The thread is placed in the proper position and the cannula is removed. The thread then trimmed and slips under the skin and not visible. The procedure takes about 45 – 60 minutes.
