Bellafill

Bellafill is a great filler that will last for 10 years!!  For many people are tired of getting juvederm injections every year, here is a new option…Bellafill.  Bellafill is used in the same manner as a traditional dermal filler to help plump up areas and get rid of deep lines.  Bellafill is also great for filling in acne scars as well.  Bellafill is a collagen based product that also has small spheres to plump up and create new collagen. Belafill is great for areas such as the nasolabial lines (laugh lines), marionette lines, and cheeks.  Bellafill should never be used under the eyes or in the lips.  This filler will end up lasting longer than anything else on the market and save you money in the long run.  Over a period of 10 years, traditional juvederm fillers will cost you $2500-5000, whereas Bellafill will cost you around $1000.

Botox

Botox is a great medication to use to prevent wrinkles from forming or to help reverse the signs of aging.  When I see a client for the first time for Botox, I generally like to start off on the more conservative end of treatment.  I always stress that you can add more, but you can never take it out.  Botox will typically last you 3-4 months.  When doing Botox for preventative actions, I suggest having injections every 6-12 months.  For women who want to turn back time, every 3-4 months is going to be a good amount of time.  If Botox is not lasting at least 3 months, the person injecting it may be using a small amount or have poor technique.  Sometimes Botox can be over diluted (watered down) which will require more units to effectively work and will end up costing you more money.

PDO Threading For Face

PDO facial threading has become very popular in the last few years.  The reason people like it so much is that it is a minimally invasive procedure that helps lift sagging jowls, tighten the skin, lift the neck, plump up the cheeks and create new collagen.  Some results are much better than others, mostly due to technique. I have taken the basic technique I learned and have modified it to get astounding results that last.  I have redone other peoples facial thread lifts due to poor placement and technique.  Another issue that arises that may result in poor results is the use of too few threads being placed.  Many times I see people try and get by with only using 3 or 4 threads to lift a whole face.  Unfortunately that is not enough to get great results.  Generally I will use 8-10 threads per side, and the results will last 18-24 months. Just remember that results depend on technique.

nonsurgical “mini face lift” with PDO facial threading

There has been going popularity for nonsurgical procedures to help people look their best.  Noninvasive procedures offer little to no downtime, less complications and little risk of complications or infections. PDO facial threading uses small surgical sutures to help lift sagging jowls and give you a younger more youthful appearance.   The threads I typically like to use are a large barbed suture, that will give maximum results and last the longest.  Threads will generally last about 1 1/2 years to 2 years when the large threads are used. The PDO thread is placed under the skin through a small hole.  The entry point in numbed with a local anesthetic as well as under the skin.  Pain during the procedure is mostly felt while the numbing agent is being injected. Areas that PDO threads can be used on are the knees, elbows, face, breast lift, butt lift and more.  As like any other procedure, the results are only as good as the person performing the procedure.  I believe our results are some of the best possible results out there.

Laser hair removal

There are many types of different laser hair removal places out there, but which one is the best?  I can honestly tell you that corporate run medical spas will over charge you.  If you are paying $5000 for laser hair on your legs, your getting ripped off.  If you are paying for a Groupon, your probably getting ripped off.  I few tips for getting the most for your money… IPL laser hair removal is a total waste of your time and it will do nothing!  They love to market this type of hair removal as “Painless”.  It is painless because it does not work.  You need to be looking for a newer machine that is no older than 5 years old.  Technology in this industry changes so rapidly that better lasers come out every couple of years.  You also want to have the energy level turned up each time, if you can tolerate the pain since you will get better results.  If you do your laser hair at the same energy level every time it will not do anything.  Shave before your treatment, and do not wax.  When you wax the hair is removed and leave nothing for the laser to detect.  If you wax before laser treatments you will not get results and be wasting your money. I hope these tips help you get the best bang for your buck!!

Botox or Dysport

The question for years has been which is better, Botox or Dysport?  A lot of this depends on what your trying to accomplish.  Botox is a very well known brand and does a great job.  Dysport has been out for about 8 or so years and also does a great job, but not as well known as Botox.  The molecular structure of each is slightly different.  Botox has a small extra protein strand attached to it that Dysport does not have. Dysport will tend to have a faster onset (the time it takes to kick in) where as Botox will take about 5-7 days.  The length of time the both last has been argued, but they should both last about 3-4 months.  I do have a few clients that Botox will last up to 6 months on.  I highly recommend trying both and seeing which one will last longer for you, which will save you money in the long run. At the end of the day, Dysport will end up saving you more money, but there are some people who simply respond better to Botox.  Both do the exact same thing in the end.

Earlobe Filler (rejuvenation)

We all know about filling our lips and cheeks with “fillers”, but now there are more options to maintain that youthful look.  People are now learning that they can put filler, such as Juvederm, in their ear lobes to help plump them up.  By filling and plumping the ear lobes, they can support the weight of ear rings much better. Many times people focus on the face and forget about everything else that helps a woman to look young.  I always suggest to look at the hands, neck and chest…and ear lobes.  Looking as young as you feel is an ongoing process, and can get expensive.  Fortunately, things such as fillers in the hands and ear lobes tend to last anywhere from 1-2 or 3 years.

Restylane Defyne – New Lip Filler

For many years I was using Juvederm Ultra XC for doing lip augmentation.  I recently started using Restylane Defyne and I have really been liking it.  The feel of it from an injecting standpoint is semi-firm which I like.  Many fillers I have used in the past are too soft and do not hold the shape very well.  I have been switching a lot of my clients over to this product and seeing the results last longer as well.  I have been getting closer to 12 months with this new filler. The only thing I do not like is the cost.  The price Galderma charges for this product is a bit higher which is discouraging, because then I have to charge more.  I have always tried to find the best products for the best prices which will last the longest.  If you have not yet tried Restylane Defyne, I think you will be impressed with the results.

What type of filler should I use??

A common question I get is… What is a good filler for my lips?  Companies put a lot of money into marketing new products and creating a “Buzz”.  I can honestly say that I have tried every filler out on the market, with the exception of Radiesse (which will cause granulomas) in the lips.  I have tried Voluma thinking that the larger molecule and G-prime would make it last longer, but no such luck.  I have tried Volbella, Belotero, Volure, Juvederm ultra, Juvederm ultra plus, Restylane and none of them lasted very long.  Restylane is by far THE WORST choice for lip filler.  The problem is that it is a very small molecule and spreads out too thin.  Many inexperienced people like Restylane because it is very forgiving if they make a mistake. In the past I used Juvederm Ultra Plus XC, because the drug reps at Allergan told me it is better than regular old Juvederm Ultra.  Guess what…Juvederm Ultra lasts longer.  Why did Allergan tell me to buy more Juvederm Ultra Plus?  Because it is more expensive! I have tried EVERYTHING in my years of injecting and I keep coming back to Juvederm Ultra XC.  Juvederm Ultra is a little stiffer feeling as you inject than Ultra Plus XC.  I have heard that there are some great products in Canada that will be coming down to the US for lips that last a very long time.  I will keep you posted if anything better comes onto the market.

Juvederm and Fillers

With so many different dermal fillers to help plump up the face, which one is right for you?  Understanding what each “filler” is intended for helps you create a better idea of what to ask for and how much to budget.  Each company makes a slightly different filler, but is still similar to others. A filler with a smaller molecule will typically be used in fine lines and wrinkles.  Larger fillers, such as Voluma or Radiesse are used a lot in the mid-face area to help build up large areas.  The mid-face can hold a large volume of filler, so don’t be shocked if you may need 3-4 syringes.  I will typically use 1 syringe for a very soft and subtle look and 2-3 syringes for a more noticeable and drastic appearance.   The most syringes I have used about 18 syringes for a full liquid facelift. In the lips a great filler is Juvederm Ultra or Ultra plus.   Restylane is typically my last choice for injecting the lips due to it’s small molecular size.  Generally people who are not proficient in lip augmentation like Restylane because it allows you more room for error.  I have tried Voluma in the lips and not overly impressed. If you are ever in doubt…just have a few consultations with different people and go with the best.
